Trina Solar issued a statement describing the companies operational highlights for the 4th quarter of 2008. The company managed to meet its solar module shipment target, shipping between 55 and 60 MW. Also, it was able to reduce the non-silicon-related costs of manufacturing its solar modules by approximately .13 per watt.

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd announced that Yingli Energy (China) Co. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary, has signed an agreement for a three year loan facility with ADM Capital. The agreement will provide Yingli Green Energy with more capital to fuel its business growth.

Vestas Wind Systems has announced it will invest $350 million in its Tianjin, China subsidiary. This investment will position the company to meet China’s increasing hunger for wind energy. Vestas has received several large orders from China in the past month and in the past year. As CleanTech Group LLC notes, investing in its Chinese subsidiary is smart because China is such an important and growing market for wind power:
Suntech Power (STP) is out this morning releasing preliminary financial results for the 4th quarter in which it expects revenues to exceed previous guidance of 345 – 360 million and come in at 405- 420 million.

MEMC Electronics (WFR) beat Wall St estimates after the bell today, but the good news ends right there. The company posted non GAAP profits of .65/share, which beat estimates of .61 but represented the first quarter of negative growth (-12%) over the year ago quarter in a couple years. American Superconductor Corporation just announced that is received a large order from China’s CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. The multi-million dollar order is for 100 sets of AMSC’s wind turbine core electrical components such as the PowerModule(TM) PM3000W. The components, which should be shipped out by the end of this year, will be used in 1.65 MW wind turbines designed by AMS Windtec.

Green Plains Renewable Energy has acquired a majority interest in Blendstar, LLC, a biofuel terminal operator from Houston, Texas. Green Plains Renewable Energy paid $9.0 million to Bioverda U.S. Holdings LLC in exchange for a 51% stake in Blendstar. Blendstar already has terminals in several cities, including Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Nashville, Knoxville, Louisville and Birmingham, and plans to build more in the near future.

Xcel Energy has chosen NextEra Energy Resources to build its planned Northern Colorado Wind Facility. If the 152 MW project is approved by Colorado regulators, it’s scheduled to be producing power by the end of this year.
