Altair Nanotechnologies announced on Friday that its new grid-scale battery storage system has been accepted for participation in the PJM Regional Transmission Organization control area, which serves approximately 51 million people. Nova Biosource Fuels, Inc (NBF) Reports That Their Fuels Have Passed Cold Soak Filtration Test

Nova Biosource Fuels has reported that their biodiesel is already compliant with new ASTM D6751-08 Standard Specifications for biodiesel fuel. The new standards state that biodiesel fuels must pass a cold soak filtration test, which evaluates the performance of the fuel during cold weather. Nova Biosource Fuels’ Biodiesel has passed this test for more than a year, ensuring that they will be able to meet increased demand caused by the 2009 biodeisel mandate.

Canadian Solar , Inc (CSIQ) Reports 3rd Quarter Results, Slashes Guidance

Canadian Solar, Inc reported its 3rd quarter results today. The company has grown quite a bit since the third quarter of last year. Last year, the company reported net revenues of $97.4 million in the third quarter. Th9is year, that figure has jumped to $252 million. Duke Energy (DUK) To Provide WalMart (WMT) With Wind Energy

Walmart has announced a partnership with Duke Energy which will supply wind power for about 15% of the energy load in 360 of its stores and facilities in Texas.  Walmart, who has a lofty ambition of using only renewable energies in the future will pay traditional energy rates for the wind power which will come from a new wind farm under construction in Notrees, Texas beginning in April of next year.… Read the rest

Ener1 (HEV) Reports EnerDel Contract With Department Of Defense Has Moved To Stage 2

Ener1 reported today that its subsidiary, EnerDel, has moved to the next phase in its contract with the Department of Defense. Under the contract, EnerDel is helping the Pentagon develop high performance lithium-ion batteries for unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAV’s.

Suntech Power (STP) 3rd Quarter Results In, Profits Increase But Company Still Performing Below Expectations

Suntech Power reported its 3rd quarter results this morning. Although the company’s results do show continued growth, they were well below what analysts had expected to see. For example, Suntech reported revenues of $594.4 million. Although this was an increase of 53.7% from last year, it was still below analysts predictions of $571.7 million. Earnings came in at .35/share, excluding one-time items. Analysts had expected to see earnings of $.42/share.

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) Secures Materials For Solar Production

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) has announced this evening that they have secured a supply deal with BHS Acquisitions, a leading chemical supplier for supplies needed  to produce solar grade polysilicon.  BHS will supply Hoku with guaranteed amounts of HCI for eight years beginning in 2009 and is expected to be enough to support the continued operation of Hoku’s trichlorosilane plant, enabling the production of 4000 metric tons of polysilicon per year.  … Read the rest

A-Power Energy (APWR) Misses But Bouncing AH; Comments On China Power Outages & Wind Turbine Biz
