This was an investment announced quite awhile awhile ago, but it’s being announced this morning that the $57 million investment in Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) by Canon Investment Holdings is finally closing. The investment will result in a majority ownership stake for Canon, but it was necessary for ALTI to survive and make a run at a big push in the China market.
In recent days, Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) has surged, doubling in just 3 trading days with huge buy volume. I’m not seeing any news or upgrades that would account for this move, so maybe the news is coming. If you have an idea of why the surge is taking place in ALTI feel free to leave a comment below. Another speculative lithium battery stock that may be primed and fueled for surge is Valence Technology (VLNC). … Read the rest
Hoping to increase adoption of its lithium-titanate battery systems, Altairnano just announced the release of an application kit that will allow OEMs to test the product in simulated real-world operating conditions.
The application kit will consist of a 50 ampere-hour battery module, connection and control unit and a netbook computer for controlling and monitoring the system. It will allow OEMs to test a variety of voltage and amperage configurations.
Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) could use some good news. With its stock trading at 40 cents a share, it’s on the verge of extinction. Today it got some. The company signed a long term lithium battery supply deal with Proterra for their hybrid and electric buses, allowing the buses to recharge in 10 minutes.
Altair Nanotechnologies has just announced that it has received a new $850,000 follow-on order for its advanced lithium-ion battery modules from Proterra. The batteries will be used in Proterra’s electric and hybrid transit buses, especially the electric 35-foot Proterra FCBE 35 transit buses.

Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI) is breaking out of a bullish wedge formation this morning and making a run at the 200 day moving average with very heavy volume on the buy side. I’m not seeing any news this morning so it may have something to do with an article over at CBS Marketwatch late Friday written by John Dvorak who is intrigued by Altair’s new lithium-titanate battery being tested by the UK’s Lightning car company and … Read the rest
