Westport Innovations (WPRT) & Volvo Define Relationship For Bio/Natural Gas Vehicles

Westport Innovations (WPRT) announced it has signed an agreement with Volvo Powertrain, a subsidiary of Volvo AB, defining Westport’s responsibility to develop biogas and natural gas fueled engines for Volvo. LDK Solar (LDK) Announces 63MW In Supply Deals With Enel & ABB

LDK Solar (LDK) is announcing some solar supply deals of its own this morning.  The company will supply 50MW of solar modules to Spain’s Enel with 30MW deliverable this quarter and an option for an additional 20MW next quarter.

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) To Provide 15MW Of Solar Modules To Kaiser Permanente Hospitals

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) announced at the North American Intersolar conference today that it will provide 15MW of solar modules to Kaiser Permanente hospitals and office facilities across California.  They will deliver around 65K modules over the next year to Swinerton Renewable Energy which is the designer and installer of the solar power systems.  Recurrent Energy will own and operate the 16 power systems.  No word on the financials of the deal.

First Solar (FSLR) Completes NextLight Acquisition

First Solar (FSLR) announced after the bell that it has completed the acquisition of NextLight Renewable Power providing First Solar with utility scale solar operations of 2.2GW under power purchase agreements.  The company began moving into the utility scale business in 2007 with the acquisition of Turner Renewable Energy and later with the purchase of OptiSolar and Edison Mission Group.

Quantum Fuel Systems (QTWW) Reports Mixed Results

Quantum Fuel Systems (QTWW) reported results after the bell today and as expected posted another loss on weak revenues. Revenues aren’t expected to improve until next year since this is a company that is for the most part tied to the success of the Fisker Karma which is expected to begin volume production in 2011.  The company reported a loss of .04/share on revenues of $3.8 million which resulted in a .01/share miss on … Read the rest

JA Solar (JASO) Partners With Innovalight To Increase Solar Cell Efficiency

JA Solar (JASO) cemented its partnership with Innovalight of California today, signing a 3 year supply agreement for silicon nanoparticle ink which is a key component in JA Solar’s new SECIUM high efficiency solar cells which are expected to move into volume production very soon.  JASO has been able to achieve efficiency rates of 18.9% and the two companies are working together to push that to over 20%.

Citi on Solar: Buy TSL, Hold YGE, Sell STP

Citi has initiated coverage on a few more solar names, adding Trina Solar (TSL), Yingli Green Energy (YGE) and Suntech Power to its coverage.  Hat tip to Street Insider for the analyst commentary.

Kandi Technologies (KNDI) Gets Order From China Postal Service For 60 Electric Vehicles

UQM Technologies (UQM) Receives Order For 50 Electric Propulsions Systems

UQM Technologies (UQM) has announced this morning that it received an initial order for 50 of its PowerPhase electric propulsion systems from an established international auto manufacturer which may eventually purchase thousands of the systems to prepare for the electric car launch from this unnamed manufacturer in 2012.  Delivery is expected in the 4th quarter and expected to continue through the first quarter 2011.
