Vestas Wind Systems (VWSYF) Receives Large Wind Turbine Orders From China

Within the past week, Vestas Wind Systems has received several large orders for its wind turbines from Chinese companies. First, the company announced that it had received an order from China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power. Vesta has supplied China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power with wind turbines in the past. A-Power (APWR) Will Open Chinese Wind Turbine Production Facility This Month

 

On January 11, A-Power Energy Generation Systems will inaugurate its first wind turbine production facility. Located in Shenyang, China, the facility can produce up to 1,125MW of wind turbines each year. By opening the facility, A-Power will formally launch its wind turbine production business.

AES Corporation (AES) To Finance Wind Farm In Bulgaria

AES Geo Power, a Bulgarian company owned by AES Corporation, signed an agreement to finance a 52-turbine, 270 million Euro wind farm in Bulgaria. Out of the total cost, 198 million euro will be financed by a group of banks including European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank’s International Financial Corporation and Italian bank UniCredit SpA (UNCFF).

Shell (NYSE: RDS-A, RDS-B) And Dominion (D) Announce Completion Of Nedpower Mount Storm Wind Project

Yesterday, Shell and Dominion announced the completion of their joint venture wind energy project, Nedpower Mount Storm. The project, located in West Virginia, is up and running, producing up to 264 MW of wind energy, enough for about 66,000 homes and businesses. The energy generated from the 132 wind turbines will be sold to PJM Interconnection, an electricity market serving 13 Mid-Atlantic states and the District of Columbia.

Aerovironment (AVAV) Smashes Earnings Estimates, Maintains Guidance

Aerovironment (AVAV) which has been one of a few bright spots in the green sector of late, reported outstanding earnings results after the bell today.  They beating analyst EPS estimates of .27/share by .14 (71% increase over year ago quarter) on revenues of 65.8 million (22% growth over year ago quarter) which was slightly ahead of estimates. The company is maintaining revenue growth guidance for 2009 of 20 – 25% growth.

Zoltek (ZOLT) Reports Earnings: "Fundamentals of Wind Energy Extremely Solid"

Zoltek (ZOLT), provider of carbon materials that go into the manufacturing of wind turbines reported results this morning that beat analyst estimates by .02/share when excluding a one time legal fee charge.  The company reported earnings of .22/share (10% below the year ago quarter) on revenues of 51 million, which was good for a 17% increase over the year ago quarter.

Duke Energy (DUK) To Provide WalMart (WMT) With Wind Energy

Walmart has announced a partnership with Duke Energy which will supply wind power for about 15% of the energy load in 360 of its stores and facilities in Texas.  Walmart, who has a lofty ambition of using only renewable energies in the future will pay traditional energy rates for the wind power which will come from a new wind farm under construction in Notrees, Texas beginning in April of next year.… Read the rest
