Applied Materials (AMAT) Announces New Multiple Screen Printing Technology

Applied Materials just announced the release of a new multiple screen printing technology called BacciniEsatto. The new technology works with Applied Materials’ Baccini back-end solar cell processing systems to allow the production of more efficient solar cells. The increases efficiency can be as much as .5% and are achieved by “enabling the fabrication of advanced contact structures,” according to this press release.

Applied Materials (AMAT) Makes Strategic Investment In Tera-Barrier Films

Tera-Barrier Films Pte. Ltd. just announced that Applied Materials has made a strategic investment in their company via its investment arm, Applied Ventures LLC. Applied’s investment money will be used by Tera-Barrier to develop moisture-resistant film for organic solar cells and flexible displays. The film will protect solar cells and electronics from moisture, decreasing cost and increasing life span.

EV Group To Work With Applied Materials (AMAT) On Thin Wafer Bonding

EV Group just announced that they will be working with Applied Materials (AMAT) to develop thin wafer bonding technologies that will  be used to make through-silicon vias  in three-dimensional integrated circuit (3D IC) packaging applications.

Applied Materials just announced the release of its new Applied SmartMove system. The company is billing this system as the “first comprehensive wafer management solution for non-automated 200mm and 300mm fabs.” SmartMove combines Applied Material’s Activity Manager software with a location-aware system for tracking wafers that uses ultrasound and radio frequency technologies. Applied Materials (AMAT) Gets Giant Solar Panels IEC Certified

Applied Materials just announced that its giant 5.7m2 solar photovoltaic (PV) modules have received certification from the International Electrotechnical Commission. The solar panels, produced as part of Applied Material’s Sunfab Thin Film line, are the largest available on the market today.

Applied Materials’ (AMAT) Tandem Junction SunFab Line Certified By Sunfilm

Applied Materials just announced that the  Tandem junction SunFab Thin Film production line installed in Sunfilm’s Grossroehrsdorf factory has been certified and has achieved factory acceptance. The production line, the first of its type in the world, passed certification tests to produce solar modules at up to 8% efficiency. Applied Materials (AMAT) Signs Contract With Tower Semiconductor (TSEM)

Tower Semiconductor and Applied Materials just signed a 5-year contract that allows Applied Materials’  to provide support for their wafer processing systems at Tower’s plant in Migdal Haemek, Israel through the Applied Performance Service program. Under the contract, Applied Materials will provide technical support for all of the Applied Materials tools in the facility.
