Xcel Energy (XEL) Unveils Ambitious Energy Efficiency Plans For 2009
Xcel Energy started the new year off by unveiling an ambitious energy efficiency plan that could save the same amount of energy that a new coal-fired plant would produce. According to MSNBC, in 2009 Xcel plans to invest $63 million in programs aimed at promoting energy efficiency. The company plans to continue the effort by spending $80 million on the programs in 2010.

Within the past week, Vestas Wind Systems has received several large orders for its wind turbines from Chinese companies. First, the company announced that it had received an order from China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power. Vesta has supplied China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power with wind turbines in the past. Ener1 (HEV) Applies For $480 Million Federal Loan
Ener1 (HEV) has applied for a $480 million low interest loan from the government as a part of a federal program called the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Incentive Program to spur the development of the next generation of electric vehicles.
