A123 Systems (AONE) Misses, Reporting Another Healthy Loss; Is 2011 The Year?

A123 Systems (AONE) is disappointing investors again after the bell today.  The company reported another sizable loss and missed analyst expectations on both EPS and revenue.  The company reported an EPS loss of .33 vs the analyst estimate of .27 on revenues of $22.6 million vs the estimate of $25.5 million.  While revenues did increase 15% over the year ago quarter, this is a company that is still a LONG way from profitability as costs … Read the rest

A few big firms are out with coverage on Tesla (TSLA) this morning.  Hat tip to Street Insider for the analyst comment from Deutsche. 

J.P. Morgan (JPM) initiated coverage on Tesla Motors (TSLA) with an Overweight rating and price target of $25.

Goldman Sachs (GS) initiated coverage with a Neutral rating and $21 price target.

Ener1 (HEV) Revenue Surges, Profits Remain Elusive As Think Shipments Begin

Ener1 (HEV) continues to post significant increases in revenues, but remains mired in red ink.  The company reported another big jump in revenues and beat the analyst estimate of $15.4 million, posting $16.1 million, but profits remain elusive.  The company reported an EPS of -.12, vs the estimate for a -.11/share loss.  That was inline with what they reported last quarter and worse than the .11 loss they reported in the year ago quarter.  Granted, … Read the rest

Tesla (TSLA) Reports Earnings – Losses Pile Up, Shares Down

Valence Technology (VLNC) In $13 Million Deal With Smith Electric Vehicles

Valence Technology (VLNC) could use some good news.  It’s been trading under a buck now for nearly three months.  It got some after the bell today with the announcement of a $13 million order from Smith Electric Vehicles for the U-Charge lithium phosphate energy storage solutions which will be used in Smith electric trucks through the end of the year.  Smith is the nation’s top manufacturer  of electric commercial trucks with its Newton line.

Raser (RZ) To Deliver Extended Range Electric Trucks To PG&E This Year

Raser Technologies just announced that it will be delivering the first of its extended range electric fleet trucks to PG&E next year. The electric trucks use a combination of lithium-ion batteries and an onboard, gasoline powered generator called a “range extender.” 

Raser also plans to offer the E-REV powertrain used in these vehicles in popular GM and Ford trucks and SUVs.

NYT On Tesla (TSLA) & Elon Musk: Hype & Arrogance Don’t Equal Success

Barclays Upgrades A123 Systems (AONE) & MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR)

Barclays is upgrading two green stocks this morning – both A123 Systems (AONE) and MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) get upgrades to Overweight from Equal Weight and price targets raised from $12 to $14 and $14 to $16 respectively.

Rumor: Tesla (TSLA) & Toyota (TM) Developing Electric RAV4 & Lexus RX

General Electric (GE) Introduces WattStation Electric Car Charger

 wattstationIt’s a busy day on the green energy front for General Electric (GE).  Earlier, they announced their $200 million Ecomagination Challenge and have also introduced their WattStation electric car charging system which decreases charging times and allows utilities to manage the impact on the local grid.
