A-Power Energy (APWR) is announcing today that the Shenyang government is planning to invest a total of $44 million in the Shenyang Power Group which is a local industry alliance headed by A-Power (60% owner) to pursue large scale clean energy projects both within and outside of China. As part of the investment, the government will appoint a local Shenyang bank and guaranty company to participate in the alliance.
A-Power Energy (APWR) is trading down this morning after badly missing earnings estimates. A-Power Energy (APWR) is tacking on to yesterday’s gains this morning after it was announced that the company has received a $52 million contract from Huaian Huapeng Biomass Electricity to design, construct and test two 18MW biomass energy facilities in China. The project is expected to be completed and in operation by the end of next year.
A-Power Energy (APWR) has vaulted about 15% in just the past 20 minutes on news it has signed contracts totaling $75 million with subsidiaries of Anhui Wenergy to build micro grid electricity generation systems using biomass as the fuel. APWR will design, assemble, install, test and deliver two 30 MW biomass fueled electricity generation systems which are expected to be completed by Aug 2010.

A-Power announced yesterday that it has signed a deal for a joint venture with GE Drivetrain Technologies.Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will work together to create a wind turbine gearbox assembly business. GE Drivetrain will own the majority of the business.
The companies also entered into a supply agreement, under which GE will provide more than 900 2.7 MW gearboxes to A-Power, starting in 2010.
On January 11, A-Power Energy Generation Systems will inaugurate its first wind turbine production facility. Located in Shenyang, China, the facility can produce up to 1,125MW of wind turbines each year. By opening the facility, A-Power will formally launch its wind turbine production business.
