Evergreen Solar (ESLR) continues to post steep losses and hasn’t come close to a profit in nearly two years now. After the bell today, the company posted nearly $100 million in losses, but more than half of that was related to a big write off related to the investment in Sovello. Still, it equates to a .20/share loss after the write down is taken out.
Adding insult to injury, the company ended the four quarter … Read the rest
There’s reason to celebrate if you’re an employee of Power One (PWER) and certainly if you’ve been a shareholder since September. The company reported its first quarterly profit in company history after the bell today. The anticipation of this day has certainly been building in this stock as it vaulted from about 1.20 in September, hitting a peak at nearly 5 bucks just three months later. It’s since given some of that back and trades … Read the rest
MEMC Electronics (WFR) continues to struggle and missed Wall St EPS estimates after the bell today, posting another quarter of red ink at -.02/share (minus one time cost associated with Sun Edison acquisition) Wall St expected a flat quarter and the whisper number actually called for a small profit, so the stock is selling off a bit after hours, but how it trades tomorrow will depend largely on the guidance which the company will give … Read the rest
GT Solar (SOLR) has been able to do what most solar stocks haven’t over the past few weeks and that’s avoid a big sell off. The stock has held up very well in recent weeks heading into earnings and will gap up significantly at the open tomorrow after smashing low Wall expectations today. The company reported an EPS .10 above estimates at .25/share on revenues of $173.6 million. That was way ahead of the estimates … Read the rest
American Superconductor (AMSC) reported another strong quarter this morning, handily beating Wall St estimates once again. The company reported a Q3 EPS of $0.20 which beat estimates by .06/share on revenues of $80.7 million which was also better than what Wall St was expecting. That’s a 100% increase in revenues from the year ago quarter and a turn to profitability (reported a loss of -.18/share in year ago quarter), but the stock is selling on … Read the rest
FPL Group (FPL) beat Wall St estimates this morning, posting .79/share, but the positives stop there. Quarter over quarter revenue growth came to a halt for the the first time in a few years with a 12% decrease over the year ago quarter. Earnings also decreased from the year ago quarter.. by 9%.
The company attributed some of the weakness to its NextEra unit which was hit by the extension of a planned outage … Read the rest
Quantum Fuel Systems (QTWW) reported earnings results after the bell yesterday, beating Wall ST estimates on both the EPS and revenue side with a loss of .03/share on revenues of $6.2 million. Analysts had expected a .07/share loss. Revenues slipped 35% over the year ago quarter which the company attributed to the end of a supply contract with GM for hydrogen fuel storage systems. However, the company continues to trim its losses as cost reduction … Read the rest
Another very impressive quarter for Cree Inc (CREE) and traders are responding after hours by sending the stock up nearly 10% back to the big resistance area around 60. It will be interesting to see if it can take out that level and find a new level of support. I’m skeptical and if I were holding this stock into earnings, I’d be taking some profits off the table into the gap up tomorrow.
Rentech (RTK) has had a great few months on a flurry of good news, but tonight the good news streak comes to an end. The company reported a big plunge in revenues from the year ago quarter due to the weak economy and lower corn prices. The company reported just $24.7 million in revenues, representing a 75% plunge from the year ago quarter. The EPS loss matched the year ago quarter at -.03/share.
Many traders were expecting more out of A-Power Energy (APWR) this quarter and once again they were disappointed as the company missed analyst estimates by a decent margin this morning. APWR has made a habit of missing estimates and selling off in recent reports, but I have to admit, I was kind of hoping that they would miss this quarter so I could add shares at a lower price. Looks like I may get my … Read the rest
