More Smart Grid Analyst Calls: Itron (ITRI) A Buy, Echelon (ELON) At Outperform

I missed the Itron (ITRI) Buy rating from Brean Murray and should have included it in the last post along with the other smart grid calls.  The firm has initiated this smart grid leader with a Buy rating and 12 month price target of $65/share.  Despite delays in the federal stimulus rollout, they still believe the company is on track for solid growth in 2010.

Itron has begun to show some life and is now … Read the rest

Echelon (ELON) Finally Issues Press Release On Fortum Deal; $50 – 60 Mill For ELON

Echelon (ELON) was a bit slow in releasing this news today or they just didn’t coordinate it well with Telvent (TLVT).  At any rate, the Fortum smart grid deal is yet another big win for Echelon (ELON) and cements them as a significant player in the smart grid arena.  The press release indicates it will provide ELON with $50 – 60 million (so about 20 mill/year beginning in 2011) over the life of the project … Read the rest

Telvent (TLVT) To Integrate With Echelon (ELON) For Finland Smart Grid, ELON Soaring

Echelon (ELON) is surging nearly 20% today with big volume.  The reason isn’t completely obvious because the company hasn’t issued a press release, but the reason the stock is moving is probably the result of Spain based Telvent integrating its smart grid solution with Echelon’s (ELON) for a big Finnish project with a cost of over $150 million.

According to Telvent’s release, they will be in charge of the design and development of a smart … Read the rest

Tobin Smith Recommends 3 Green Stock "Hidden Gems"

I just came across an article written over a month ago by well known investment “guru” Tobin Smith, highlighting three “hidden gem” green stocks.  The article highlights Itron (ITRI), VMware (VMW) and Echelon (ELON) as companies that could benefit big in the coming green energy revolution.  Itron (ITRI) may be  relatively unknown to the average investor, but considering it’s the big guy in the smart grid space, it’s quite well known to those with … Read the rest

General Electric (GE) Working With Tendril To Connect New Appliances To Smart Grid

CNET News is reporting that General Electric plans to use software from smart-grid startup Tendril to make its appliances more energy efficient. The software will allow you to control your GE appliances from several different locations, including an in-home display, over the Internet or even through your iPhone (is there anything you CAN’T do with an iPhone these days?). The system will be in a testing phase starting in the 4th quarter of 2009. Tendril’s … Read the rest
