Itron Partners With Ambient On Smart Grid

Itron just announced that it is partnering with Ambient Corporation to integrate Itron’s smart grid and AMI components with Ambient’s smart grid communications platform. The partnership, created under a memorandum of understanding signed by both companies, will allow Itron and Ambient to join together and provide a complete smart grid system for utility customers.

Valence Techology (VLNC) Working With S&C Electric On Smart Grid Batteries

Valence Technology (VLNC) and S&C Electric Company announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding,  agreeing to work together to develop and evaluate products for stationary grid-connected electrical energy storage systems.

Itron (ITRI) Pushes Lower AH On 2.75 Million Share Offering

Itron (ITRI), the smart grid gorilla, is selling off a bit after hours after announcing it is selling 2.75 million shares at 55.81/share.  The company expects to use $125 million of the proceeds to repay a portion of outstanding non-convertible debt and the remainder for general corporate purposes.  Canaccord Adams is the lead, book running manager while Stephens Inc is acting as co-manager on the deal which is expected to close around June 3rd.  I … Read the rest

GE Energy (GE) Hooks Colorado Springs Utilities Up With Smart Grid Technologies

GE Energy just announced that it has installed smart grid technologies for Colorado Springs Utilities to help them better manage power flow and customer communication in their service area. Here’s more on the announcement, from Trading Markets:

Smart Grid Players EnerNoc (ENOC) & Echelon (ELON) Report Earnings

Several days ago Itron (ITRI), the smart grid 800lb gorilla, reported disappointing earnings.  Today, the unprofitable up and comers EnerNoc (ENOC) and Echelon (ELON) reported large losses but losses that were considerably less than the estimates.

FPL Group (FPL) Reports Strong Quarter, Raises Outlook

FPL Group (FPL) reported earnings this morning and it was a strong quarter in a tough environment.  The leading provider of wind and solar energy reported a non GAAP EPS number of .90/share beating estimates by .13/share.
