SunPower (SPWRA) announced this morning that is has expanded its relationship with Japanese behemoth Toshiba to support Toshiba’s residential s0lar program. The two companies have worked together in the past under an original 32MW supply deal and today’s announcement adds another 48MW. The panels will be supplied over the course of the next year.

Toshiba announced today it will begin construction to expand capacity at a plant in Houston, Texas and begin production on drive motors for Ford Motor (F) hybrid and electric cars the following year. The plant will be the first phase of production in the US for electric car drive propulsion systems which it currently manufacturers in Japan. Toshiba will construct 2 new 1,400 MW nuclear plants in Texas under an agreement with Texas utility companies NRG Energy and CPS Energy. The two new plants are being built as part of the South Texas Project, an expansion of an existing nuclear plant that provides power to NRG and CPS customers.
