American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) Gets Korean Order For Superconductor Power Cable

American Superconductor Corporation just announced that it has received an order for 80,000 meters of its 344 superconductor wire from a Korean company, LS Cable. LS Cable will use the wire to improve the power grid in the city of Seoul, South Korea. Republic Services, Inc. (RSG) Signs Agreement with Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE)

Republic Services, Inc, 2nd largest garbage collection company in the US, just announced that it has signed a new partnership agreement with T. Boone Pickens’ Clean Energy Fuels Corporation. Under the terms of the contract, Clean Energy Fuels will build and maintain a compressed natural gas fueling system for the CNG-powered fleet that Clean Energy Republic Services is planning to roll out in Idaho.

GE Wind Energy Biz Down 8%, Announcing Big China Smart Grid Order Next Week

Raser’s (RZ) Hatch Plant Begins Delivering Geothermal Power to Anaheim

The geothermal Hatch plant (previously named the Thermo plant), named after Utah Senator Orrin Hatch has begun delivering geothermal power to Anaheim.  Raser Technologies (RZ) leases the large geothermal resource in Beaver County, UT which is expected to deliver 10 – 11MW of geothermal power, enough to light up 9000 homes in Anaheim.  The city of Anaheim has signed a 20 year power purchase agreement to receive clean electricity from the Hatch plant.  Independent … Read the rest

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Sets Up Research Facility in China

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) just announced that it will open a new research center in China. The opening of the center will mark the start of a 4 year research program, with the goal of raising solar cell conversion efficiencies and reducing production costs, to help solar power compete with conventional power. Soleos and Suntech In 30MW Supply Deal
