Echelon (ELON) Continues to Report Losses On Shrinking Revenue

Echelon (ELON) may be a company to watch in the future with exposure in LED lighting, demand response and smart grid networking but for now the company remains unprofitable with no signs of a turn around yet.  The company posted a non GAAP loss of .06/share which beat estimates of -.14/share but revenues shrunk by about 25% over the year ago quarter.

Cree (CREE) Releases New GaN HEMT Microwave Transistors

Cree just released samples of two new products: two 120MW GaN HEMT microwave transistors that can be used in telecommunications applications like Wi-Fi and for high-speed cell phone data transmission. These transistors would be compatible with both 3G and 4G cell networks, and could be used by both GSM and CDMA carriers.

Cree (CREE) Signs Supply Contract With LG

Cree just announced a new supply contract with LG Display. Under the partnership agreement, Cree will supply LG with LED chips for flat-screen LCD devices. LG plans to expand the percentage of panels it produces that use LED-backlighting to approximately 50% of its total notebook LCD output.

Cree. Inc (CREE) Enters Licensing Agreement With Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation

Cree. Inc has entered a patent licensing agreement with Mistsubishi Chemical Corporation for its freestanding GaN substrate technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation will be able to manufacture and sell GaN substrates as well entering in to some sublicensing agreements in exchange for paying royalties and other payments to Cree.

Cree, INC (CREE) Announces New Members Of Its LED University Program And LED City Program

Cree, Inc, announced that the University of California, Davis, has joined Cree’s LED University program. The college has installed a Bi-Level "Smart" Parking Light System From Cree at its South Entry Parking Structure. By installing the 50 BetaLED light fixtures, the University will achieve an average of 50 percent in energy savings.

Cree Inc. (CREE) Receives Large Order For Pentagon Renovation

CREE just announced that they have received an order for 4,200 of their LR24 recessed LED luminaires from the US government. The energy-efficient LEDs will be installed in Wedge 5 of the Pentagon as part of a major renovation from the building. Cree (CREE) and Bridgelux Resolve LED Lighting Patent Dispute

Yesterday, Cree Inc (CREE) announced that it has come to a resolution in its LED patent dispute with California startup Bridglux.  As part of the agreement, CREE has granted Bridgelux a license for the patents in exchange for fees and royalties and will now be a major supplier for Bridgelux
