GT Solar (SOLR) Receives Final Approval For First Solar Turnkey Operation In Greece

Yesterday, GT Solar (SOLR) announced it has received final approval for the first solar wafer and cell turnkey fabrication line in Greece which is being built for Solar Cells Hellas and has annual capacity of 30MW.  Once the operation is up and running, Solar Cells Hellas will officially be the first solar PV manufacturer in Greece.

A-Power Energy (APWR) In $52 Million Contract To Build Biomass Energy Facility

A-Power Energy (APWR) is tacking on to yesterday’s gains this morning after it was announced that the company has received a $52 million contract from Huaian Huapeng Biomass Electricity to design, construct and test two 18MW biomass energy facilities in China.  The project is expected to be completed and in operation by the end of next year.

EnerDel (HEV) Gets Order From AC Transit

EnerDel just announced that they have signed a contract to supply AC Transit with lithium-ion batteries for buses. AC Transit is buying 16 new hybrid electric fuel cell buses, and EnerDel will supply advanced battery systems for all 16 of them. The buses will be powered by lithium batteries and tanks of hydrogen that fit on top of the vehicles.

SolarEdge Snags Deal With BP Solar (BP)

SolarEdge, an Israeli company that makes electronic systems which boost the efficiency of solar panels, just announced that they snagged a deal with BP Solar. Under the joint agreement, BP Solar will begin incorporating Solar Edge’s systems, which boost efficiency up to 20-25%, into its solar modules and look at the possibility of commercializing them. Capstone Turbine (CPST) Receives 3 Microturbine China Orders

Capstone Turbine (CPST) announced that it has received an order for three C200 microturbine systems for China Southern Power Grid (CSG), one of two state owned power grid companies in China.  The low emission, natural gas powered turbines will be installed in a CSG dispatch building as a test project to show the benefits of microturbines in a combined cooling heat and power application.
