LDK Solar (LDK) announced after the bell today that it has signed a contract to supply solar modules to Spain based Gestamp Asetym Solar. LDK Solar will provide 15.8MW of solar modules to Gestamp during the 3rd quarter.

NRG Energy just announced that it plans to offer an unlimited electric car charging plan to its Texas customers. Starting next year, Houston residents will be able to sign up for the plan, which will cost $60-80 per month and allow unlimited charging at home and at charging stations throughout the city. It also includes the cost of leasing a home charging station and emergency charging for drivers who get stranded.
Yingli Green Energy (YGE) announced its U.S. subsidiary, Yingli Green Energy Americas signed a solar module supply agreement with DC Power Systems through the end of this year. It’s one of the largest US agreements for Yingli this year, and represents the largest contract between the companies to date. Yingli has been selling its solar panels to the US residential solar market through DC Power and other solar distributors and this widens that distribution.
Toshiba announced today it will begin construction to expand capacity at a plant in Houston, Texas and begin production on drive motors for Ford Motor (F) hybrid and electric cars the following year. The plant will be the first phase of production in the US for electric car drive propulsion systems which it currently manufacturers in Japan. Praxair (PX) signed a multi-year with Evergreen Solar (ESLR) to supply bulk industrial gases for its solar wafer manufacturing facility in Wuhan, China. Praxair has been a supplier for ESLR’s US operations for several years and will now support their new China operations.
Praxair is the largest industrial gas supplier to the solar industry and server more than 50 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Wedbush reiterated its Outperform rating on Clean Harbors (CLH) and raised the price target from $72 to $76. The firm calls Clean Harbors “A leading emergency response/environmental clean-up company” in regards to the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. Ascent Solar just announced that it has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract from DARPA under the Low-Cost Lightweight Portable Photovoltaics (PoP) solicitation. Under the contract, Ascent Solar will lead project called “Flexible High-performance Tandem-junction PV Array” to develop cheap, lightweight PV systems that have a conversion efficiency of 20% or greater and are tough enough to stand up to military use.

SunEdison, a division on MEMC Electronic Materials, just announced that it has been selected by LaSalle Investment Management to develop, finance, build, own, operate, monitor and maintain 2.1 MW worth of PV solar energy systems on LaSalle’s facilities.
The power produced by these systems will be bought by Ontario Power Authority under its feed-in-tariff program. Meanwhile, LaSalle will get lease revenue out of the deal.
I’ve always thought it was strange that the India green energy market isn’t much bigger.
